SPECIFICATIONS
Depth: 10, 16 or 22mm (closed construction) - rigid type, and 10mm (slotted) - rollup type.
Width: Up to 6 metres wide without joins.
Increments: 50mm
Birrus matting is custom-made to clients specifications. Larger mats are installed in sections and where possible
will be sized to enable rotation of mats to maximise life and appearance.
It is important to indicate positions of doorways to avoid divisions occurring where it is not aesthetically pleasing
or at the point of heaviest traffic flow. Mats may be shaped to suit virtually any angled or circular area. A rigid
template of the matwell is required to ensure a good fit.
Sizing: Mats are made with nominal 4mm clearance in each direction to allow for metal expansion. Tolerance
is +/- 2mm

INSTALLATION
SURFACE MOUNTED - with aluminium tapered diminishing strips to perimeters
RECESSED - Birrus matting systems require an internal matwell depth of 10, 16 or 22mm.
Standard Birrus matwell frames are fabricated using aluminium alloy or brass angle for compatibility with our mats.
Overall depths are 12, 20 and 25mm. Plus 4mm for standard corner brackets (optional).
Place framing in an oversize recess, and set angles level with adjoining floor surfaces. Grout in or screw fix
as required. Contractors are advised, to ensure proper performance of the entire assembly it is absolutely necessary
that base of matwell is formed to a level plane.
MAINTENANCE
-
Vacuum clean matting regularly and if required spot clean carpet inserts with dry shampoo, or steam clean as
required.

Rubber and Vinyl inserts can be restored by wiping over with a damp mop, using a multi-purpose detergent. For
abrasive grit, the best method is a hot water hose or stiff brush. Do NOT use mops.
-
Coir inserts should be vacuumed regularly to remove dirt, grit and loose fibres which collect in treads.
-
Replacement of inserts is a simple job carried out insitu. A full range of inserts is available from your local
distributor.
-
Restore lustre to ribbed aluminium sections by lightly rubbing over with abrasive wool.
