When Safety Comes First

DURAGRIT

A non-slip system, designed for hazardous surfaces

Some surfaces can present a slip hazard, especially in environments where they may be wet or dirty. DURAGRIT is designed specifically for entrances where slipping is a concern. The durable grit tread provides a safe walking surface to minimise the risk of slips or falls.

  • Engineered Performance – grit inserts and furrowed aluminium treads provide  grip
  • Quality – grit inlay is manufactured using a 3-stage process
  • Slip-tested – assessed to AS/NZS 4586:2013 standard
  • Durable Construction – frame made from 6000-series aluminium
  • Custom-made – manufactured to your size and shape specification
  • Drainage Options – both closed and open matting construction options are available

Installation

Birrus Installation Service Available

Birrus Matting Systems require and internal recess depth of 12mm or 20mm. Standard Birrus matwell frames are fabricated using aluminium alloy, brass and stainless-steel angle for compatibility with our mats.

Place angle in the recess and set angles level with adjoining floor surfaces. Glue in or screw fix as required. Contractors are advised, to ensure proper performance of the entire assembly it is absolutely necessary that base of matwell is formed to a level plane, using an engineered screed. We do not recommend sand and cement screed as it will break up over time.

Alternating Configuration
An alternative installation method for DURAGRIT is to install DUAL TREADS (that is, 2 x 50mm wide increments) alternately set into concrete, or paving tiles across sloping ramps and walkways.

Care & Maintenance

Care & Maintenance
For abrasive grit, the best method is a hot water hose or stiff brush. Do NOT use mops.
Replacement of inserts is a simple job carried out in-situ. A full range of inserts are available from your local distributor.
Restore lustre to ribbed aluminium sections by lightly rubbing over with abrasive wool.
